About Aggression |
|
There are several different types of aggression that a dog can exhibit. However, there is one type of aggression that comes without much warning. It is referred to as sudden onset aggression, defined as sudden aggressive behavior ( biting, nipping, guarding, growling etc. ) with or without provocation. Most of the reasons for aggression are not good, and no level of aggression is acceptable. One possibility is that the dog can be in pain from some injury or illness that the owner is not aware of. One of the first things you should consider, is a complete medical workup to rule out illness or imbalance. If the dog comes up with a clean bill of health, the next step is to contact a certified trainer who can help you devise a training program that will be in the best interest of you and your pet. Remember, aggression of any kind, should never be taken lightly. It can create serious potential problems and liabilities. This is a situation which requires prompt attention.
